The history of Grandma Robertson’s Sweet Potato Pies spans over five decades. The origination of this famous recipe began with the late Daniel Robertson, Sr. who was a professional chef and known for his unique ability to add his special flair to every meal.
While the recipe began with Daniel Sr., Mother Robertson began to test the combination of spices and essential ingredients to determine how she could make it even better. After years of tasting and adjusting the flavor, the sweet potato pie is widely acclaimed and a favorite from the Mt. Gilead Gourmet Kitchen. Whether it’s served hot right out of the oven or room temperature, this delicious pie has been the subject of many conversations from both members and visitors alike. Those who have tasted the pie eagerly testify of its down-home flavor and velvety texture. Both the richness of the ingredients and the consistency of the crust remain in tact -- even after freezing.
If you’ve ever tasted one of Grandma Robertson’s Sweet Potato Pies you’ve tasted over 55 years of love in every bite!
